4/24/18 I will start grading the Standard 11 essays tomorrow, 4/25/18. There are approximately 110 essays, so please be patient as I read through, and grade all of them. I am hoping to have all of them graded by April 4, 2018. If there is no grade posted by that date for your child, then no essay was turned in.
4/22/18 We will be learning about the Presidential Administrations after WWII for the next 4 weeks (Standard 12). There will be 2 tests for this standard. There will be a study guide that will be given out at least 3 days before each test. Please check back for exact dates for each test.
4/18/18 Students were notified on yesterday that the Standard 11 essay will now be due on 4/23/18 instead of 4/20/18. I am allowing additional time to insure that we have covered all steps in the essay writing process (Brainstorming, Outline, Rough Draft & Revising/Editing) before they create their final copy at home. Students are required to participate in the full writing process.

4/12/18 Students were given a copy of the instructions for the "Inventions Essay" This essay is due on 4/20/18. The instructions can also be accessed by visiting nearpod.com and typing in the code ACRJI.
3/27/18 Students were given a Standard 10 study guide for the upcoming test.
3/22/18 For the next 2 weeks we will be learning about Standard 10-the United States economy and the programs that had an impact on society in the United States since WWII. (examples of programs Medicare, Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program, Head Start Program etc. ) The Standard 10 vocabulary quiz will be on 4/3/18 and the Standard 10 test will be on 4/6/18. There will be a Standard 10 project that will be due on 4/10/18. (Printed instructions will be given to each student and it will be explained in detail in class.
3/11/2018 The Standard 9 Part II Assessment will be on Friday, March 16, 2018. Please study your in class digital notes, along with pages 303-304, 399, 439-440, and 402-403 in your textbook.
3/4/18 For the next 2 weeks we will be learning about the Women's Rights Movement and about how new music and technology changed the culture and lives in the United States after WWII. The Standard 9 Part I Test (Civil Rights Movement) will be on March 6, 2018. The Standard 9 Part II Test (Women's Rights/Cultural Changes after WWII) will be on March 16, 2018.
2/25/18 The Standard 9 Part I Test will be moved to Monday, March 5, 2018 instead of Thursday, March 1, 2018. The Standard 9 Vocabulary Quiz will still be on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. For the Standard 9 Part I test, please study the digital notes from class and Chapter 10 Lesson 1 in the textbook.
2/19/18 For the next two weeks, we /will be learning about the Civil Rights Movement. This information is in Chapter 10 Lesson 1, along with various digital materials that will be used in class. The Standard 9 part I (Civil Rights) test will be on March 1, 2018. The Standard 9 vocabulary quiz will be on February 27, 2018. Please be sure to define the words that are listed on the Assignments/Homework page. All definitions can be located in your social studies textbook.
2/11/18 The standard 8 test will be on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Students were given a study guide on February 5, 2018. Students should use their study guide along with the sections of the textbook we have gone over in class that pertains to the Cold War. The Standard 8 Research Project will be due on February 16, 2018. In depth details about how the project should be completed were given on February 6, and again on February 9, 2018. The drawing portion should be on a poster board. Students were given a digital copy of the instructions on February 6, 2018 and a hard copy of the instructions on February 9, 2018.
2/1/18 The Standard 8 vocabulary quiz will be on February 9, 2018. The words are on the Assignments page. The Standard 8 test will be on February 15, 2018. There will be a standard 8 study guide that will be given to you next week. Please ensure that you complete the study guide.
1/22/18 This week we will review for the Standard 7 test - the Home Front of the U.S. during WWII and take the test on Wednesday. Please study chapter 8 Lesson 2 and the PowerPoint that is on the worksheets section of this site.
1/12/18 The Standard 7 vocabulary quiz will be on January 17, 2018. Please study for the quiz. (The vocab words are on the assignments page.) For the next two weeks, we will be covering how American's lives changed on the U.S. home front during World War II. This information is on pages 348-355. The test for standard 7 will be on January 19,2018. Please study pages 348-355 and the PowerPoint titled WWII Home Front Review (the PowerPoint is on the Worksheets and documents tab) for the test.
12/14/17 The Standard 7 vocabulary words are on the Assignments/Homework Page. Starting on January 4, 2017, we will be focusing on the American Home Front during World War II. This information can be primarily located in the textbook on pages 349-355 along with additional information that will be covered in class. The Standard 7 vocabulary quiz will be on January 17, 2018. The Standard 7 test will be on January 24, 2017.
12/4/07 The standard 6 Part I study guide is located at the top of this page. The standard 6 vocabulary quiz will be 12/5/17. The standard 6 part I test will be 12/8/17. Please study.
11/25/17-This week (week of11/27/17)we will start learning about World War II. There will be 2 tests and 1 vocabulary quiz for the World War II Standard. The test and quiz dates are as follows: Vocabulary quiz- December 5, 2017. World War II Test Part I-December 8, 2017, World War II Test Part II- December 14, 2017. The Standard 6 Vocabulary words/definitions are on the Assignments/homework page. There will be a study guide posted for the Standard 6 Part I test by Monday, December 4, 2017 and a study guide for the Standard 6 Part II test by Friday, December 8, 2017. These study guides will be here on the Announcements/Homepage.
11/15/17- We are taking a break from Anne Frank:The Diary of a Young Girl. Students will be given a standard 5 study guide today to go along with the study digital study guide that has been available for the past 2 weeks. No Anne Frank Quiz will be given. Only the Standard 5 test. Please continue to study for the standard 5 test.
11/13/17- We will continue reading Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl this week. The book will be completed by Thursday and there will be a comprehension quiz at the completion of the book. We will also continue reviewing for the standard 5 assessment. Please study your digital notes and pages 321-326 in your textbook.
11/5/17- This week we will continue our lessons on standard 5 (The Great Depression/The New Deal/ Dust Bowl. We will also start reading Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl in class on Monday, November 6, 2017 in class. There will be a comprehension test on this book on next Thursday, November 16, 2017. Please remember that your toy invention project is due on November 9, 2017. There will be a Standard 5 test on next Friday, November 17, 2017. Please study your digital notes and pages 321-326 in your textbook.
10/22/17 We will be wrapping up Standard 4 this week. Please study your Standard 4 digital notes for the test on Friday, October 27, 2017. We will also be reviewing in class.
10/30/17 For the next few weeks we will be covering the Great Depression, The Dust Bowl, and the New Deal Programs. There will be 2 major grades. A project and a test. The Standard 5 Test will be on November 17, and the project will be due on November 9. The information for the project will be sent home with each student and also posted on this website under the Assignments page. Students will receive digital notes to study as well as specific page numbers from the text book as we progress throughout the standard 5 components.

No changes this week. We are continuing working with standard 4 (Please see pacing guide on this page for more info about standard 4) Vocabulary quiz is still 10/2017, and the standard 4 test is on 10/27/17. For more information, see the previous post on 10/10/17.
10/10/17 There will be a Standard 4 Vocabulary Quiz on Friday, October 20, 2017. The vocabulary words are listed on the Assignments page. Please be sure to study for this quiz. We will also review these words regularly in class. You will also be making a Farm City Poster Project. This project will count for a major grade (test grade). The instructions for the project can be located on the assignments page. This project is due on next Tuesday. October 17, 2017. The Standard 4 test will be on Friday, October 27, 2017. Please be sure to study for this test by using your digital notes from class, and your textbook.
10/4/17 Please remember that there is a test on Standard 3 (World War I) on Friday. PLEASE STUDY PAGES 273-280 IN YOUR TEXTBOOK IN ORDER TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TEST. WE WILL ALSO REVIEW ALL WEEK IN CLASS.

9/24/17 There will be a Standard 3 Vocabulary Quiz on Friday, September 29, 2017. The vocabulary words are listed on the Assignments page. Please be sure to study for this quiz. We will also review these words regularly in class. The Standard 3 test will be on next Friday, October 6, 2017 (in two weeks). Please be sure to study for this test by using your digital notes from class, and your textbook pages 273-280. I have also loaded a World War I lesson into Moby Max to help you review.
9/14/17 The Standard 2 part II test on the Progressive Era Reforms will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017. We will be going over the information for this test today through Tuesday of next week. We will also have a review day on next Wednesday. Please study at home as well. It will be helpful to study your digital notes from class. The information for the test comes from the page numbers/topics you copied down in class on 9/13/17. I have also placed some review modules in Moby Max.
9/5/17 The standard 2 part I test on immigration is on Monday, September 11, 2017. We will be reviewing for this test Tuesday through Friday of this week. Please study at home as well. It will be helpful to study the section in your textbook titled "New Americans" as well as your digital notes from class. There is also some review material in Moby Max that I loaded onto your accounts.
